The Joke Shop is a boutique shop owned by Miranda and managed by Stevie, her best friend. The shop is described by Miranda as a joke-slash-gift shop. Stevie added her own section she called Stevie's Corner, and a number of 'youths' are tempted in, much to their horror.
Interior[]
Shop Interior
The shop interior is quite small. There is a main service and display area, with table display of toys, chocolate penises, snakes in cans, and other such merchandise.
The walls are decorated with old tin advertising signs, and there is a heavy red counter at one end upon which rests the till. There is a staircase to one side by which one can access Miranda's flat in the hall above.
The shop itself is handily located next door to the local restaurant, managed by Miranda's friend Clive, in series one. Her friend Gary is hired as the new chef there in the pilot episode, Date. Afterward, Miranda goes to lunch there almost every day to hang out with Gary.
With the Customer
The joke shop also shares the high street with a baby goods store, which during a stock delivery mix-up, received their stock of sex toys while the joke shop received a load of baby gear. This shocked Penny when she went to buy a christening present, as she accidentally bought a vibrating rabbit - the baby loved it.
The Flat[]
Miranda lives in a flat above the shop, which gives her no reason to be late. This generally causes Miranda to come up with terrible lies for her chronic tardiness.
